Texon International announce it has achieved the prestigious Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) environmental accreditation for all Texon Vogue products manufactured at their cellulose-fibre production facility in Möckmühl, Germany. The FSC’s Chain of Custody manufacturer certification is yet another example of Texon’s market-leading commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable production processes.

Following a successful independent audit, all Texon Vogue products can be FSC certified from January 1, 2018.  The FSC accreditation also follows the Okeo-Tex Standard 100 certification for the testing of harmful substances on textiles close to the skin.

Holger Hoffmann, Sales Manager for Texon in Germany said, “Texon Vogue was already being produced using renewable and sustainable materials and we are delighted to receive this recognition from the FSC. This certification ensures products made from wood-pulp are sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.”

FSC certification is the most rigorous international standard for responsible forestry. FSC certified forests conserve biological diversity, water resources and crucial eco-systems. The FSC standard also upholds worker rights and supports economic prosperity in surrounding communities. The FSC Chain of Custody certification ensures that certified wood products are tracked from forest to final product.

Holger continued, “Texon Vogue is an innovative, creative and versatile product that is 100% animal-free. Already popular as a material for jeans labels and used by some of the world’s biggest apparel brands, it is now being used as a jacron or washable kraft paper that is a cruelty-free alternative to leather. Texon Vogue has the supple hand of traditional leather combined with the performance of an engineered fabric. Our material can be washed, printed, stitched and embossed and is used in consumer products from garments, bags and wallets to holders for items such as laptops or plant pots. We are very excited about what the future holds for our remarkable paper-based product.”

Texon Vogue is available in a range of finishes and colour options using laminating and tanning techniques to provide a leather-look and is receiving acclaim as an environmental and vegan-friendly material solution.
