The countdown is on. Anticipation is rising. The final preparations are in full swing. When SHOES DÜSSELDORF opens its doors from 28 to 30 August, the “Who’s Who” of the industry will get together. More than 300 exhibitors and over 600 brands just wait to be discovered by retailers. “It is starting soon now and we are all hugely looking forward to this event, which will be held at Areal Böhler for the 11th time now. Let us inspire you and come to SHOES to Düsseldorf,” says the host and Igedo General Manager Ulrike Kähler appealing to the footwear and fashion world.

Fullhouse! At SHOES DÜSSELDORF all renowned German and international brands will be represented. No other trade show in Germany even comes close to offering such as wide and diverse portfolio. Be it for women, men or kids: the best shoes, bags and accessories are found and ordered in Düsseldorf. The spectrum ranges from A as in Abro through G as in Gabor and N as in Natural World to V as in Voile Blanche and Z as in Zouri, to name but a few. Alongside proven, long-standing exhibitors SHOES DÜSSELDORF is also delighted to welcome many new brands to the coming edition, including numerous suppliers who have taken up the important theme of sustainability. The complete list of exhibitors can be called up digitally in the Brandbox.

Digital or analogue? SHOES DÜSSELDORF excels at both. “But the key message for all of us is that we can meet and exchange live again,” says Ulrike Kähler and banks on a comprehensive line up of side events with exciting lectures and events.

Fashion input accompanied by hands-on order tips come care of the trade show as do high-calibre trend forecasts that dare to look into the more distant future.

A must-see highlight for sneaker fans is “SNEAKERS & SPEAKERS, II 22” on Sunday, 28 August 2022. The second edition will revolve around the question: how did the world of sneakers happen to become “a man’s world” and how can this be changed?

All important facts and figures on the sector will be presented at the HDS/L Press Conference on the Monday of the trade show, 29 August 2022.

 SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS, II 22

"SNEAKERS FOR THE OTHER HALF OF HUMANITY"

The fact that particularly coveted limited-edition styles are often dropped solely in men's sizes is just one of many examples of how the scene has little regard for women as a target group.

On Sunday, 28 August, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the "Altes Kesselhaus" on Areal Böhler,

top-class branch insiders will discuss at the 2nd SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS TALK 2022 as part of SHOES DÜSSELDORF how it came to be that the world of sneakers has become "a man's world" and how this could be changed.

Silke Bolms puts the "Silk" in Silk Relations. Together with Kerstin Geffert, she runs the successful PR agency that does public relations for brands like Veja, Dr. Martens, Levi's, Toms and Champion, among others, from Berlin. At SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS she explains how women feel about sneakers and which shoe storylines work for them.

As a passionate sneaker lover, the successful presenter-manager Anke Lönne had enough of the fact that the coolest models are usually only available in sizes 41 and up. In order to close the gender-sneaker gap, she started a sneaker store just for women in the centre of Cologne in 2016 together with Saskia Willich. At SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS she shares her experiences with us.

When Adidas realised that they were perceived as a purely male brand and had lost the female target group, they launched Adidas x Stella McCartney, the first sportswear line just for women that a luxury fashion designer was responsible for. Stefan-Christoph Methner accompanied the collection for several years. At SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS, the creative consultant tells us what considerations played a role.

Julia Schoierer is Germany's best-known sneaker collector and reigning sneaker queen. On her Insta account @sneakerqueen and her blog sneakerqueen.de, she shares her knowledge with tens of thousands of followers and subscribers. The times when she was asked at sneaker fairs if she was there for her collecting boyfriend are bygone, but not forgotten. At SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS she explains to us why she still feels very comfortable in a male-dominated scene.

Henriette Wagener, a.k.a. Tornschuhjette, is the queen of custom sneakers. For those who don't want a shoe "off the rack", she fulfils their individual dream of a unique sneaker. Whether it's a hand-painted sole, a strap made of Hermès silk or a python leather upper - with her company SOLESclusive she makes it possible. She now dresses hip-hop stars and cooperates with Nike and Adidas. She explains to us at SNEAKERS&SPEAKERS how it all started and why she doesn't trust her own hype.

The conversation will be moderated by VJ legend Patrice Bouédibéla. With his eleven-year career at MTV Germany, he was the longest-serving presenter there. But even beyond MTV-Urban, Patrice is and remains an ambassador for hip-hop and urban culture, who is also privately deeply rooted in the sneaker and streetwear scene.
