Great success and very positive feedback for the second edition of LA MODA ITALIANA at CHIC in Shanghai, from 16 to 18 March 2016.
The exhibition project presented by Ente Moda Italia and ITA - the Italian Trade Agency for the foreign promotion and internationalization of Italian business showcased 51 Italian clothing, accessories and footwear brands in synergy with Sistema Moda Italia and Assocalzaturifici and with the support of the MISE- Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico.
The Chinese market confirmed its welcome and its excellent potential for future seasons.
Made in Italy style and fashion were the great protagonists at CHIC – held from 16 to 18 March 2016, in the new and immense “National Exhibition & Convention Center” in Shanghai – thanks to the second edition of La Moda Italiana@CHIC, the exhibition project dedicated to Italian companies launched last October.
CHIC which, since last year, has had two annual editions – March and October – held in Shanghai, the throbbing heart of the Chinese economy where the most important and dynamic showrooms are located, managed to attract around 105,000 members of the trade from 68 countries and regions in China and the other main neighboring Asian markets.
On the same days and in the same location as LA MODA ITALIANA, Shanghai also hosted Milano Unica Cina, the trade show dedicated to Italian textiles. The concurrence and synergy of these events was once again a strong contributing factor to the success of each one of them.
After the first edition last October, the Italian participation at CHIC was again a great success recording positive feedback from the Chinese members of the trade attending and huge satisfaction among the participating companies. 51 Italian fashion brands of excellence (up on the 46 brands present last October) were featured inside the “La Moda Italiana” area - located in the center of the international area, Pavilion 2 – showcasing their 2016/2017 fall/winter collections of clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women and children.
“We put a lot of energy into preparing this second edition of La Moda Italiana@CHIC, building up a collection of quality brands and companies, and we can say that it has been a decisive success”, says Antonio Gavazzeni, President of Ente Moda Italia. “The results achieved during the fair confirmed our expectations and those of our partners – Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico [Ministry for Economic Development], ICE (ITA - Italian Trade Agency), Sistema Moda Italia and Assocalzaturifici – rewarding the growing interest of the Italian brands that took part in the project. The feedback from our companies and from the Chinese members of the trade was characterized by great satisfaction for the quality of the Italian fashion proposals and for the high level of the presentations. The promotional work carried out in close collaboration with ICE, the new exhibition format, the settings and the layout of the special area, represented a leap forward for Italy’s image at China’s most important trade fair. This is a strategic intervention for China on a market that is demonstrating an increasing readiness for a high level fashion product that also has an interesting quality-price ratio: an investment that is starting to bear fruits and that will undoubtedly show an improvement on these results at future editions. The concrete synergy between the main subjects working on the international promotion of Italian fashion, starting with the important support provided by the Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico and ICE’s Shanghai offices, are a strategic asset on which we shall continue to strongly invest”.
“The ICE - Italian Trade Agency”, underlines President Riccardo Maria Monti, “has once again realized "La Moda italiana" at Chic in Shanghai, together with Ente Moda Italia, Sistema Moda Italia and Assocalzaturifici. Here Italian exhibitors have been able to benefit from the team work of the entire network of ICE offices in China which, for the occasion, extended the invitation to buyers and members of the trade selected from the main local markets. The ongoing synergy between the partners promoting this project offers the Italian companies involved a chance to encounter members of the trade of one of the world’s most promising markets. These new prospects make it possible for small and medium sized Italian fashion companies to enter and consolidate their presence on the Chinese market".
“The second edition of ‘La Moda Italiana@Chic’ has satisfied our expectations and consolidated our presence on the Chinese market”, explains Claudio Marenzi, President of Sistema Moda Italia. “There is still a lot of work to do, also on the part of our companies, in order to approach in the best way possible this market which, despite its extremely high potential is not that easy to conquer; but time will prove us right. We have noted a higher level of professionalism amongst the Chinese visitors and thus a reduction of the phenomenon of non-professional visitors at the fair. As the SMI Federation we are always willing to support these types of initiatives that can be of real help to our SMEs and fully maximize our Made in Italy production.”
“We are very satisfied with the results achieved at this event on what is, for us, a strategic market like China, where we are very keen that Italian products become increasingly well-known and appreciated”, says Annarita Pilotti, President of Assocalzaturifici. “The high attendance of registered members of the trade, with an upward trend compared to the previous edition, encourages us to continue to invest in this market. So our mission”, concludes Pilotti, “is to continue to support businesses within a logic of system and synergy by continuing to create opportunities for mutual collaboration between all the Italian sector entities. This dialogue represents the best response to the companies’ requirements and the most suitable context for valorizing the know-how of each individual actor, for the common good of all the parties involved in the market”.
There was also a lot of interest and participation in the events and special initiatives scheduled during the fair coordinated by the ICE - Italian Trade Agency– Shanghai office. In particular, the special collective LA MODA ITALIANA catwalk shows, when the clothing and accessories of the companies participating in this edition took to the catwalk in the Fashion Show Area (Hall 2 / Stand W107).
