The 2019 editions of Moda Made in Italy, Germany’s biggest footwear trade fair, will be held on March 24 through 26 and October 6 through 8 at MOC – Munich Order Center. The event, promoted by Assocalzaturifici, is traditionally held after MICAM in Milan as a business opportunity for the trade strategically positioned in the annual trade fair calendar.
Moda Made in Italy represents an opportunity to round off the season’s orders for dealers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and northern Europe, who have been demonstrating plenty of interest in the excellence of Italian-made shoes for more than 20 years and continue to offer interesting prospects for Italian companies serving these markets.
About 34 million pairs of shoes were exported to Germany in 2017, worth more than one billion euros (+2.7% over 2016), at an average price of just under 30 euros a pair (up 3.5% over the previous year). Germany represents the second largest foreign market for Italian shoemakers (after France) and the third by value, after France and Switzerland. In the first quarter of 2018 flows from Italy increased 3.2% by quantity over the first quarter of 2017, with more limited dynamics which are however equally positive in terms of value (+1.6%).
“The October 2019 edition of Moda Made in Italy is even more strategically positioned in the German trade fair calendar,” explains Assocalzaturifici vice chair Giovanna Ceolini. “The event effectively closes the season, and we thought it would be best to hold it farther away from MICAM in Milan, after Oktoberfest, an event which is viewed as a disturbance by members of the trade”.
“To prevent overlapping at a time that is already complicated,” concludes Ceolini, “we have decided to reposition our event at a more practical time in line with commitments in the trade calendar and the timing of the retail business, to make things easier for buyers who come to Germany with the intention of finalising their orders for the current season”.
